Pacanów

Pacanów is a village located in powiat Buski in the Holy Cross Voivodeship in Poland. It has about 1,137 inhabitants (2003 ).

Pacanów is the administrative seat of the rural commune ( gmina wiejska ) Pacanów with 7,800 inhabitants and an area of 123.8 km ². 87 % of the area of the municipality is agricultural land.

History

Pacanów received city rights in 1265. In the 14th century the town had about 800 inhabitants and was then greater than Kielce. In 1700 cholera was raging in the city, which caused numerous deaths. 1854 was followed by a devastating fire disaster. In 1869 a city charter was revoked.

Attractions

In the second half of the 13th century, the St. Martin 's Church ( Kościół Marcina Sw. ) Was built, which was expanded in the 17th century and around 1768.
