Pacific-Asia Curling Championships

The curling Pacific Championships are a curling tournament, which takes place in November or December every year since 1991. The organization of the tournaments done by the World Curling Federation. Since 2004, the top two teams of the tournament will receive a place in the World Championships, previously it was only the winner. It involves teams from Australia, China, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and Taiwan. Individual tournaments have been held in Canada, but Canada itself has never participated.

Tournament format

Most first a round-robin tournament preliminary round is conducted since 2007 for women and 2008 for men as a double round-robin tournament. Based on the results this preliminary round medals and qualifying places will be allocated for the World Championship in a play-off.

The semi-finals 1st place against No. 4 and No. 2 against No. 3 are doing now played in best- of-five - mode, but the two games of the teams in the preliminary round will count as results. As part of the semi-final, therefore, only a maximum of three games are really played out.

At the tournament the women the play-off phase was repeatedly shortened and only a single place match played 2 or a Page playoff with a total of two games for the places 1, 2 and 3
