Palatine T 4.I

The locomotives of Class T 4I were wet steam tank locomotives the Palatine railways, which went to the Royal Bavarian State Railways from 1906 as a left-bank Directorate. Krauss delivered in 1895 and 1897 four more three specimens that had been developed on the basis of the second series of the Bavarian D VIII. They only differed in several dimensions of these; so for example the diameter of the running wheels and coupling were lower. In addition, they had a larger carbon reservoir. Stationed they were in the depot Neustadt.

1908 and 1910 were delivered by Krauss further four locomotives, which were now referred to as D VIII. They differed by larger reservoir and from 12 to 13 bar increased maximum allowable boiler pressure.

The German Reichsbahn took over in 1925 all 15 locomotives and ordered them together with the Bavarian D VIII in the series 98.6. The first seven cars were numbered 98651-657 and the eight more recent numbers 98681-688. The first group was retired by 1940, the second arrived yet for German Federal Railways. With the 98 682 and 98 686 in 1950, the last two ones were taken.

The Augsburg Localbahn in 1949 the 98 683 bought and used by train number 10-1957.
