. Paperhouse - nightmares come true ( original title: Paper House ) is a British horror film from 1988 The film is based on the children's book Marianne Dreams ( Marianne dreams ) by British author Catherine Storr. It was directed by Bernard Rose.

Content

Anna is an eleven year old girl standing on the threshold of puberty. During the school class, she paints in her exercise book, a wind chiefes house in a barren landscape. The first signs of a serious illness are several fainting spells, in which Anna finds in a dream at exactly the house, which she has drawn. Anna will have to stay in bed for a few days - reluctantly. She discovers that she can influence her drawings their dreams. So she makes the boy Marc for inhabitants of their firm. Since she has just drawn a face in the window, Marc can not go - Anna has painted him no legs. Anna's doctor told her about a boy who suffers from muscular dystrophy and a much worse fate has drawn as Anna. Anna is convinced that it is this boy is the same Marc, whose fate has her drawings in her dream world in his hand. So she draws him not only everything he needs, but she also paints her father in the picture, who works in the real world abroad. Anna hopes he will appear in a dream as a savior for Marc. But in Anna's tangled drawings gets confused a lot, so that her father does not appear as saving savior, but as a hammer wielding lunatic. The boundaries between fantasy and reality blur more and more.

Publication

Paper House premiered on September 10, 1988 at the Toronto Film Festival. The German premiere took place on 6 July 1989. In July 1991, the film was released in Germany as a VHS tape. The German DVD released by Concorde movie on 1 July 2004.

Special

The film Paper House is the directorial debut of British film director Bernard Rose. It was one of the first films for the German composer Hans Zimmer contributed music for the score.

The novel Marianne Dreams by Catherine Storr was filmed ever before PaperHOUSE. 1972, a six-part mini- series called Escape Into Night by ATV ( Associated Television ) was produced in the UK.

In the re-examination for the German DVD release of the original G - Release of 12 years has been increased to 16 years.
