Papyrus 22

(Referred to Gregory- Aland Sigel 22) Papyrus 22 is an early copy of the Greek New Testament. It is a papyrus manuscript of the Gospel of John contains only the verses 15,25-16,2.21-32. Using palaeography, it has been dated to the early 3rd century.

Description

Manuscript written in two consecutive columns in a roll. The back is blank. The Nomina sacra are abbreviated. There are no signs of punctuation.

The Greek text of this codex is a representative of the Alexandrian text-type (or rather a proto- Alexandrian ). Aland placed it in Category I. The manuscript represents an independent text dar. There are very many similarities with the Codex Sinaiticus, but there are also significant differences. There is no unique interpretations.

Currently, the handwriting in the Glasgow University Library ( MS Gen 1026) is preserved in Glasgow.
