Papyrus 49

Papyrus 49 ( Gregory- Aland Sigel 49 referred ) is a early Greek copy of the New Testament. It is a papyrus manuscript of Ephesians contains the verses from 4.16 to 29; From 4.31 to 5.13. Using palaeography, it was assigned to the 3rd century.

The manuscript is currently housed in the Yale University Library under the signature P. 415 Yale in New Haven.

Description

The Greek text of this codex is a representative of the Alexandrian text-type. Kurt Aland referred to him as " at least normal text" and placed it in Category I.

The manuscript shows great agreement with the Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Vaticanus. According Comfort originate 49 and 65 originally from the same handwriting.
