Papyrus 69

(Referred to Gregory- Aland Sigel 69) Papyrus 69 is an early copy of the Greek New Testament. It is only a fragment of a papyrus manuscript of the Gospel of Luke. Using palaeography, it has been dated to the 3rd century.

Description

In this fragment, the detailed content of Jesus' prayer in Luke 22:42 - 45a is completely missing. In Luke 22.61 Peter looks (not Jesus). Claire Clivaz suggested that 69 ( P. Oxy 2383 ) should be acknowledged as " a testimony to Marcion edition of Luke's Gospel." Peter M. Head maintains the " assumption that 69 a manuscript of Marcion 's Gospel is, is a very clever idea, but neither proved nor the most plausible explanation for the context of this fascinating manuscript ".

The Greek text of this codex is a representative of the Western text-type. According to Kurt Aland, the text is very clear, " characteristic of precursor of the D- text ", so he placed it in Category IV.
