Parchovany

Parchovany ( until 1948 slovak " Parchoviany "; Hungarian Parno ) is a town in eastern Slovakia, with 1942 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to the Okres Trebišov, a circle of Košice kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located in the East Slovak Lowland near the mouth of the river Topľa in the Ondava. The center is located at an altitude of 115 m nm and is located 11 km from nad Topľou Sečovce as well as 17 miles of Vranov.

Administratively divided the community in the main town of Lele's and the 1989 eingemeindeten place Božčice and the hamlet Hunkovce.

History

Parchovany was first mentioned in writing in 1272 and probably developed from a Slavic settlement. 1828 are listed 127 houses and 961 inhabitants. In the late 19th century there was the Andrássy castle- but in 1901 one was destroyed by fire.
