Patrick Barry (bishop)

Patrick Joseph Barry (* November 15, 1868 in Lauragh, County Clare, Ireland; † August 13, 1940 in Jacksonville, Florida, United States) was Bishop of Saint Augustine.

Life

Patrick Joseph Barry received on 9 June 1895, the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Diocese of Saint Augustine. He was curate at Immaculate Conception Church in Jacksonville. In 1903, Barry pastor of St. Monica in Palatka. 1917 Patrick Joseph Barry Rector of St. Augustine Cathedral in Jacksonville and Vicar General of the Diocese of Saint Augustine.

On February 22, 1922, he was named by Pope Pius XI. Bishop of Saint Augustine. The Archbishop of Baltimore, Michael Joseph Curley, donated him on 3 May of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Wilmington, John James Joseph Monaghan, and the Bishop of Buffalo, William Turner.
