Patrick Gaillard

Patrick Gaillard ( born February 12, 1952 in Paris ) is a French former Formula 1 and sports car racing driver. He competed in two Grand Prix races for the team Ensign; three times he could not qualify.

Career

After good performances in the French Formula Renault and Formula 3 Gaillard received in 1979 a cockpit in Formula 2 and in the same year a place in the Formula 1 team in the British Ensign, who had become free after unsatisfactory driver Derek Daly services. However, the Ensign N179 was not a competitive car, so that Gaillard in his career, could only qualify for two Grand Prix. His only finish line was 13 to vacate place at the Grand Prix of Great Britain From these results, and after he had missed qualifying for the Grand Prix of the Netherlands, Gaillard had his cockpit in favor of Marc Surer. In the following years he failed to return to Formula 1.

After serving in Formula 1 Gaillard went back in Formula 2, in the Canadian CanAm Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
