Paul Antaki

Paul Antaki ( born January 16, 1927 in Cairo, † 29 December 2011) was Auxiliary Bishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church in Antioch and Patriarchal Exarch of Alexandria in Egypt and Sudan.

Life

After attaining the French and Egyptian higher education, he studied from 1945 to 1951 Theology at St. Anna seminary in Jerusalem. This seminary is conducted in collaboration with the St. Anne's Church of the White Fathers. He received his priestly ordination on July 2, 1950. From 1951 to 1954 he was employed as a parish priest in Alexandria. In 1954 he was appointed rector of the Patriarchalkolleges in Cairo. Since 1957 he was secretary of the Patriarchal Vicar Joseph Elias Tawil. In 1966 he was appointed director of the Youth Seminar in Rayak in Lebanon.

Bishop dignity

On September 9, 1968, he was appointed Titular Archbishop of Nubia and appointed auxiliary bishop in the Melkite Patriarchate of Antioch.
