Paul Burke (actor)

Paul Burke ( born July 21, 1926 in New Orleans, † 13 September 2009 in Palm Springs, California ) was an American actor.

Life

Burke grew up in New Orleans, where his father Marty Burke was a nightclub owner and owner of the restaurant Marty Burke's in the French Quarter after the end of his boxing career. Paul Burke moved to Hollywood in the late 1940s. He spent two years studying acting at the Pasadena Playhouse. 1951 Burke received by the director Lloyd Bacon, a friend of his father, his first film role: a small supporting role in the musical Call Me Mister with Betty Grable.

Since the 1950s, he has had numerous guest appearances on U.S. television series, first in Big Town, Highway Patrol, Navy Log and Dragnet. 1956-1957, he starred in the short-lived U.S. television series Noah 's Ark, in the season 1957/1958 he appeared in five episodes of the series Harbourmaster in the role of Jeff Kittridge.

Burke's best known television roles were the detective Adam Flint in Merciless city in the years 1960-1963 and later the Colonel Joe Gallagher in Twelve O'Clock High. In the 1980s, he also had a recurring role as Senator McVane series in the soap opera Dynasty. In the late 1980s he took over again guest-starred in the series Cagney & Lacey and Columbo.

For his role in Naked City Burke received two Emmy nominations in the 1960s.

Burke also starred in several feature films, including The Thomas Crown Affair and The Valley of the Dolls.
