Paul N. J. Ottosson

Nils Jorgen Paul Ottosson, often Paul NJ Ottosson ( born February 25, 1966 in Osby ) is a Swedish sound engineer. For his work on the film The Hurt Locker - The Hurt Locker 2010 he won two Oscars. He received a third Oscar in 2013 for his sound editor in the film Zero Dark Thirty.

Life

Ottosson went in the small Swedish town of Hässleholm to school. In 1987, he and a few friends moved to Los Angeles to become a professional musician. In 1992 he got a job there in a recording studio and worked as a sound engineer for various commercials and music videos. Since the mid- 1990s he participated in more than 100 films. Was it first rather lesser known films and television productions, he worked from about 2000 also in larger Hollywood projects.

1998 Ottosson won for sound editing in the episode Council of the National Geographic Explorer series an Emmy Award. For the films Operation Sandman (2000), Jimmy Neutron - Boy Genius (2002), Spider- Man 2 (2005) and Spider -Man 3 (2008) he was nominated for a Golden Reel Award in each of the organization Motion Picture Sound Editors.

At the Academy Awards in 2005 Ottosson was nominated for his work on the movie Spider- Man 2 for an Oscar in the category Best Sound Editing. Also at the British Academy Film Awards and the Satellite Awards, there were nominations.

In 2010 he won two Academy Awards in the categories of Best Sound and Best Sound Editing for the war drama The Hurt Locker - The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow. Other awards were presented Ottosson for this film at the British Academy Film Awards 2010 in the category Best Sound and the Cinema Audio Society Awards.

He received his third Oscar in 2013 for the sound editor for Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty. Because of parity of votes, however, also Per Hallberg and Karen Baker Landers for James Bond 007 were: Skyfall excellent.

Other well-known films in which Ottosson was responsible for the sound, were among others the blockbuster The Scorpion King, S.W.A.T. - The special unit, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, the first two parts of the horror film series The Grudge and the disaster movie 2012 by Roland Emmerich, win a Satellite Award for 2009, Ottosson.
