Paulo Bellinati

Paulo Bellinati ( born September 22, 1950 in São Paulo) is a Brazilian guitarist and composer.

Life

Bellinati had as a child guitar lessons from his father and studied from the age of 17 at the Conservatorio Musical de São Paulo e Dramático at Isaías Sávio. With a scholarship, he went in 1975 in Switzerland, where he studied at the Conservatory of Geneva and then taught at the Conservatory of Lausanne. With his own band he has performed at European jazz festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Ozone Jazz in Neuchâtel and the Festival du Bois de la Batie in Geneva.

In the 1980s, he worked in Europe, Asia and America with musicians such as Steve Swallow, Brazilian singer Mônica Salmaso, the Brazilian flutist Antonio Carrasqueira, with Renaud Garcia -Fons, Jean -Louis Matinier, Lucilla Galeazzi, Antonio Placer, Carla Bley, Gal Costa, Leila Pinheiro, João Bosco, Cesar Camargo Mariano, Edu Lobo, Chico Buarque and the group, Pau Brasil, with whom he recorded five albums. In 1994 he received the Prêmio Sharp as an arranger of Gal Costa's album O Sorriso do Gato de Alice. As an arranger, he worked for Edu Lobo, Leila Pinheiro and Vânia Bastos.

Bellinati composed works for solo guitar, for guitar duo, trio and quartet, as well as guitar and vocals, which he partly themselves grossed on his albums, and musicians such as John Williams, the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Costas Cotsiolis, the guitar quartet Quaternaglia, Badi Assad, Cristina Azuma, Shinichi Fukuda and Carlos Barbosa Lima were taken. In 1988 he received the eighth Carrefour Mondial de la Guitare in Martinique the first prize for composition with the solo piece Jongo.

Special merits Bellinati acquired by the work of the composer and guitarist Garoto ( Aníbal Augusto Sardinha ), which he transcribed and grossed in the double album The Guitar Works of Garoto.
