Pavlovskaya, Krasnodar Krai

Pawlowskaja (Russian Павловская ) is a Cossack village in the southern Russian Krasnodar region with 31 327 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The Cossack village is located in the north of Cuba area, about 140 km north-east of the regional capital Krasnodar at the Sossyka, a left tributary of the Jeja. Pawlowskaja is the fourth largest Staniza ( Cossack village ) in the region.

The Staniza Pawlowskaja is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons Pawlowskaja ( Pawlowski ).

History

The town was founded in 1822 by Cuba Cossacks as Pawlowskoje, named after the Apostle Paul (Russian Pawel, see Arms). Since 1842, he is considered Staniza under the present form of the name.

In 1875 the main line of the North Caucasus Railway from Rostov to Vladikavkaz was east of the Cossack village led by; here named after the river station Sossyka arose. In 1911 she became the starting point of the private railway Jeisker about the big Stanizen Umanskaja and Starominskaja the city Jeisk on the coast of the Azov Sea. Closer to the Cossack village that was how the new train station, Sossyka - Jeiskaja; the old one was renamed Sossyka - Rostovskaya.

Economy and infrastructure

The Cossack village is the center of an important agricultural region. Pawlowskaja is located on the railway line from Rostov - Mineralnye Vody - Vladikavkaz and Makhachkala - Baku ( station Sossyka - Rostovskaya, 1468 route km from Moscow). The former branch line after Jeisk is on the section to Starominskaja since the 1990s out of service.

The place is also a major hub of the road network. From the east leading to Pawlowskaja around M4 highway Moscow - Rostov - Novorossiysk (also European Route 115) branches off the M29 here which leads as the railway line to the Azerbaijani border. A regional road leading towards Jeisk.
