Peppermint Harris

Peppermint Harris ( born July 17, 1925 in Texarkana ( Texas) as Harrison Nelson, Jr., † March 19, 1999 in Elizabeth, New Jersey) was an American rhythm and blues guitarist and singer, who is the West Coast Blues attributable

Harrison Nelson began in the late 1940s first images in Houston for the Gold Star label einzuspielen, where he was accompanied by his friend Lightnin ' Hopkins and Elmore Nixon, however, with whom he had no success. Finally he got for shots like " Fat Girl Boogie" a contract with the producer Bob Shad, the Nelsons forget names and the titles published under the pseudonym Peppermint Harris on the label Sittin'in With. 950 he had with " Rainin'in My Heart," a first chart success. In 1951, he joined the Aladdin label in Los Angeles and had with "I Got Loaded" ( en: I 'm drunk ) his biggest hit in the R & B charts, which reached # 1 in November. His other songs, however, were less successful, many of which the alcohol had on the subject, such as " Have Another Drink On Me and Talk to Me ", " Cadillac Funeral ," " Right Back on It " or " Three Sheets in the Wind". With Albert Collins, he recorded around 1960 material for the album Houston Can not Be Heaven.

Later he took more pieces in Shreveport, Louisiana on (including another version of " Raining in My Heart" for the label Jewel, 1965), also for Lunar ( " Sweet Black Angel " ) and Duke Records ( "Angel Child" ), and worked in Sacramento and New jersey, before a final album in 1995 was built on the label Home Cooking. He died in 1999 in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
