Peter Høeg

Peter Høeg ( born May 17, 1957 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish writer.

Life

As a young adult, he was based in the artistic direction, studied drama, dance and literature. In 1984, he graduated with a Master of Arts in Comparative Literature from his studies. He worked in a variety of areas, including as an actor and dancer ( Classical Ballet ). Frequently he was also on traveling, especially in the Caribbean and in Africa. In between, he worked as a deckhand on yachts of rich people and played theater in Africa. Following these trips, he also founded a foundation for the benefit of women and children in developing countries. The author is a freelance writer in Jutland (Denmark).

He achieved international fame with the publication of the novel Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow ( Frøken Smilla fornemmelse for sne ), which was often placed, and under the same title by Danish director Bille August with Julia Ormond was filmed in the title role. The author has, however, decided not to allow any other film adaptations of his books more: " There were several reasons, but one was that I do not want the pictorial imagination of the reader limits are set. "
