Peter Helander

Peter Helander ( born December 4, 1951 in Stockholm ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player who has played in its active period from 1971 to 1983, including for the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League.

Career

Peter Helander began his career as a hockey player with Rönnskärs IF, for the to 1974 he was active from 1971 in the then Division 2 second-rate. Then the defender played for eight years for the Skellefteå AIK - initially for one year in Division 1 and from the 1975/76 season in the Elitserien newly established. With the Skellefteå AIK, he won the Swedish championship in season 1977/78. In the years 1981 and 1982 he was elected to the Swedish World All- Star team. In 1982 NHL Entry Draft, he was selected in the eighth round when a total of 153 players from the Los Angeles Kings, for which he in the National Hockey League in seven games prepared a goal in the 1982/83 season. In parallel, he played for the farm team of the Kings, the New Haven Nighthawks of the American Hockey League and scored a goal in nine games and three assists. He then finished his career at the age of 31 years.

Internationally

For Sweden Helander took part in the World Championships in 1981 and 1982. He also stood in 1981 -up from their country during the Canada Cup. His greatest success with the national team was winning the silver medal at the World Championships in 1981.
