Peter Jenner

Peter Jenner ( born 1943 ) is a British music manager and producer. Jenner, Andrew King and the original four members of Pink Floyd were partners in Blackhill Enterprises.

Biography

After graduating in economics from the University of Cambridge Jenner taught at the London School of Economics. In 1966, he was so impressed by a performance by the young band Pink Floyd at London's Marquee Club that he decided to take over their management. Along with the band and his friend Andrew King founded Jenner Blackhill Enterprises. The company gave the little-known group of new instruments, performances, meetings, in the press and a recording contract. Jenner's voice is heard at the beginning of the first track of the first album Astronomy Domine The Piper at the Gates of Dawn by Pink Floyd.

After Syd Barrett in 1968 was retired from the band, Jenner and King ended the collaboration with Pink Floyd, because they did not believe in their success without Barrett. Black Hill continue supervised Barrett and additionally a number of other artists, including Marc Bolan, Ian Dury, Roy Harper, The Clash and The Edgar Broughton Band.

The early 1980s, Black Hill Enterprises broke up, and Jenner founded with his wife Sumi Sincere management. The company was responsible, among others, the artists Billy Bragg, Eddi Reader, Sarah Jane Morris, Robyn Hitchcock, The Unanswered thing and Trees Outside Royalty.
