Peter Lemer

Peter " Pete " Lerner ( born June 14, 1942 in London ) is a British jazz pianist and synthesizer player.

Life and work

Pete Lemer learned as a young classical piano and studied piano at the Royal Academy of Music, and later with Jack Gold branch. 1966/1967 he took lessons in New York with Paul Bley and Jaki Byard, also bass - hours at David Walter. His first engagement as a professional musician, he had in 1963 under Tony Crombie and Jeff Clyne; This introduced him to the music of Ornette Coleman and Scott LaFaro. When he returned to London, he conducted his own formations, a trio, a quartet, and a group which he called E. In 1965 he formed a trio with John Stevens and Jeff Clyne, which occurred at the Little Theatre Club. In 1966 he founded the Peter Lemer Quintet with Jon Hiseman, the tenor saxophonist George Khan, John Surman baritone saxophonist and Tony Reeves on bass. The band played at Ronnie Scott's Club and belonged to the English free jazz movement of the late 1960s. They merely recorded an album - Local Colour - in 1966 appeared on ESP-Disk.

In the early 1990s played in the formation Lemer In Cahoots and toured again in 1999 with paraphernalia. Lemer also works as a music consultant for piano, improvisation and music technology. He currently heads the Cluzion Jazz Club in Bishop's Stortford.
