Petr PrÅ¯cha

Petr Průcha ( born September 14, 1982 in Olomouc) is a Czech professional ice hockey player who played zueltzt for SKA Saint Petersburg of the Kontinental Hockey League.

2.1 International

Career

Petr Průcha comes from the offspring of HC Chrudim. In 2000 he moved into the junior section of the HC Moeller Pardubice, where he was active in the U20 Extraliga. During the 2001/ 02 season he made his debut for Pardubice in the Extraliga, but also played on for the juniors. He was top scorer of the U20 Extraliga game in 2001 /02. Then he chose the New York Rangers during the NHL Entry Draft in 2002 in the eighth round to 240th place out. However Průcha remained until 2005 when HC Moeller and was in his last season with this team Czech champion.

After this success, he moved to North America to the Rangers, for whom he scored in his rookie season 47 score points in 68 games. On 5 July 2007 Průcha signed a new two year contract with the Rangers on a total of 3.2 million U.S. dollars. Almost two years later, on 4 March 2009, he was discharged together with Dmitri Kalinin and Nigel Dawes to the Phoenix Coyotes, who sent Derek Morris in return to the Rangers.

In January 2011, he joined the SKA St. Petersburg in the Kontinental Hockey League, after he had lost his NHL regular place and was used mostly in the AHL farm team of the Coyotes.

Internationally

Petr Průcha represented the Czech Republic in his career with three world championships, the U20 Junior World Championship in 2002 and the Senior World Championships in 2004 and 2005. Doing so, he won the 2005 gold medal. Overall, he has so far scored twelve goals in 32 internationals.
