Philip Kraft

Philip Kraft ( born March 24, 1969 in Rendsburg ) is a German fragrance chemist. Since 1996 he is employed at Givaudan, the world's largest manufacturer of fragrances and flavors, since 2001 in the role of group leader for the synthesis of new fragrances. He is also a lecturer at the University of Bern, the University of Zurich and, since fall semester 2010/11 at the ETH Zurich.

Life

After graduation and military service, where he was employed in forensic chemistry and analysis, studied chemistry at the force of 1989-1994 Christian -Albrechts -University of Kiel and graduated with a thesis on " Targeted fragrance synthesis " from. From 1994-1996 he completed his PhD in the group of Werner Tochtermann summa cum laude as a fellow of the Association of the Chemical Industry on macrocyclic fragrances by ring expansion of cycloalkanones with chiral building blocks and won the 1997 Faculty Prize of the Christian -Albrechts- University. Since 1996 he works at the Research Centre of Givaudan in Dübendorf ( Switzerland ) on the synthesis of new fragrances, mainly in the area of ​​body musk and floral notes. In the fall semester of 2008/ 09 he was reading " Fragrance Chemistry" at the University of Bern, then at the University of Zurich and, since fall semester 2010/11 at the ETH Zurich.

Publications and Patents

Force has so far written 78 publications in scientific journals and is inventor or co-inventor of 27 patents. Popular reviews are " Fragrance Chemistry", " All kinds of trends: the latest developments in the fragrance chemistry " and "New and unusual natural substances fascinating floral scents ," and the book chapter " Musks ". He was co-organizer of the Flavor & Fragrance conference series of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Society of the Chemical Industry in Manchester in 2004 and in London in 2007, which force now continues with the German Chemical Society.
