Plateau de Lannemezan

The plateau of Lannemezan is a plateau in the south of France. It is situated in the Hautes -Pyrénées and is populated by approximately 10,000 residents.

Geography

The plateau is located at the foot of the Pyrenees, roughly between the towns of Tarbes and Saint- Gaudens. At its center is the town of the same name Lannemezan that has given its name to the plateau. The plateau has an average altitude of about 510 meters.

Since the rivers often suffer during dry periods at low water levels, they are irrigated via a sophisticated sewer system. Here, the Canal de la Neste serves as a kind ring distributor, again branching from the other channels and irrigation ditches and so provide a large number of rivers with additional water.
