Plouhinec (Morbihan)

Plouhinec ( breton.: Pleheneg ) is a commune with 5085 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region.

Geography

The municipality is located in the southwest of the department about 10 kilometers southeast of the agglomeration of Lorient. Plouhinec bordered to the northwest and north on the community Merlevenez, on the northeast by the municipality of Sainte -Hélène, on the east by the Ria d'Etel, in the south on the Atlantic coast and in the west on the community of Gâvres, the bay Petite mer de Gâvres and the Riantec community.

Settlement themes can be found to the west with the place Plouhinec and on the east by the Ria d'Etel, over the suspension bridge Pont Lorois into the community Belz.

History

From prehistoric times can be found in the municipality of menhirs, dolmens and stone rows ( for example, the alignments you Gueldro ). Above the Ételufers, near the village of Locquénin, are excavations of a Gallo -Roman estate dating from the 2nd century AD (Ville maritime de Mane - Vechen ). The Breton settlement takes place from the 6th century. The name Plouhinec goes back to the Breton " Ploe - Hidinuc " from the 11th century. The community Plouhinec was founded in 1790.

The community is connected northward on the secondary road D 9 after Hennebont to the French road network ( N 24, N 165) and the metropolitan area of ​​Lorient west of the Blavet. The D 9 leads to the east of the Pont Lorois by Belz and further than D 22 to Auray. To link the coastal towns of Port Louis, the D 781 provides in the west to Locmariaquer in the southeast.
