Pohorelá

Pohorelá ( Pohorella German, Hungarian since 1913 Koháryháza, 1907-13 Garamkohó until 1907 Pohorella ) a municipality in Brezno Okres is within the Banskobystrický kraj in Slovakia, with about 2,400 inhabitants.

Geography

The municipality is located in the region Horehronie ( " Horehronie " ) and is located on the right side of the Hron at Brooks Pohorelka and Kompanica. North of the village rises the Low Tatras under the mountain Orlova hola (1840 m nm), on the other hand, south of the river, it is the Muránska planina. Pohorelá is located 32 km from Brezno and 48 kilometers from Poprad.

History

The town originated in the 17th century by Wallachian colonization in the property and the castle Muráň and is mentioned for the first time in 1612. Previously, there is no evidence of a permanent settlement. The inhabitants were engaged in cattle and sheep farming, forestry and charcoal burning. End of the 18th century brought the church today part Pohorelská Masa an ironworks and a hammer mill.
