Town has a fundamentally different meaning than in other English-speaking area in Wisconsin. Rather, it corresponds to the usual in the other U.S. states townships that make up the next smallest administrative unit of the County.
Geography
The Town of Potosi is located in southwest Wisconsin near junction of the three states of Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa. Here, the Mississippi forms the border of Wisconsin and Illinois to Iowa. In the center of the Town of Potosi is the fully enclosed by this place Potosi, but not belonging to the Town. In the extreme southeast of the Town is the mouth of the Platte River to the Mississippi.
The geographical coordinates of the center of the Town of Potosi 42 ° 40'04 " north latitude and 90 ° 42'57 " west longitude. It extends over an area of 149.4 km ², spread over 120.2 km ² land and 29.1 km ² water surface.
The Town of Potosi is located in the southwest of Grant County and is adjacent to the following neighboring Towns and townships:
Traffic
U.S. Highway 61 and the Wisconsin State Highway 35 extend on a common road across the north east of the Town of Potosi. Coming from the northwest reached the Wisconsin State Highway 133 in Potosi its southern end point. In its course parallel to the Mississippi, all three roads form the Wisconsin section of the Great River Road. Furthermore, the County Highways O and U lead through the area of the Town of Potosi. All other roads are minor roads, some unpaved roadways and within local roads.
Along the Mississippi runs a railroad line of the BNSF Railway.
With the Dubuque Regional Airport is located approximately 40 km south of Iowa's third largest after the passengers the airport.
