Predajná

Predajná (Hungarian Garampéteri - to 1902 Péteri ) is a town in central Slovakia, with 1354 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and belongs to Okres Brezno, a part of the Region Banskobystrický.

Geography

The municipality is located in the valley landscape Horehronské podolie (informally Horehronie ) at the confluence of the creek Jasenica with the Hron. To the north rises the main ridge of the Low Tatras and south of the Polana. The center lieft at an altitude of 461 m nm and is 15 kilometers west of Brezno and situated 26 km east of Banská Bystrica.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1284 as Predynich writing and belonged from 1358 to 1848 for the manor castle Liptsch. From the 17th to the 19th century, it worked for a brewery, a 19th century sawmill. Main source of income was agriculture.
