Presidential memorials in the United States
The Presidential Memorials in United States honoring the various presidents of the United States and try to perpetuate their legacy.
Lively and physical elements
A Presidential Memorial may be a monument or a statue in a memorial. It provides a constant reminder of the President, it represents. The famous monuments of this kind are the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial.
Furthermore, there are official Presidential Memorials, where the physical presence plays only a minor role. An example of this lively Presidential Memorials, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. This is located in a wing of the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington DC and offers a small exhibition that commemorates the life and work of Wilson. However, it is perhaps best known for his work to unite the world of ideas with the world of politics through the promotion of science in relation to issues of contemporary importance. Thus, Wilson's scientific heritage, closely related to international relations, immortalized.
Similarly, the Harry S. Truman Foundation honors American college students, who have been involved in the public or political sphere. The Truman Foundation is the only Presidential Memorial that has no visible monument, and is also the only public monument in honor of President Truman.
This can also be done through the establishment of a think tank, as the Eisenhower Institute. Its task is to promote the influence of Eisenhower's intellectual and statesmanlike legacy in the areas of research, public education and public policy.
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is an example of an official Presidential Memorial that holds the name of the President not only by the eponymous building in Washington DC, but also through there constantly held cultural events in memory.
