Monastery Vauluisant Monastery Barbeau Monastery of La Colombe

The monastery Preuilly ( Prulliacum ) is a former Cistercian abbey in the town of Égligny in the Seine -et- Marne, Île- de -France, France. It was about 21 km south-west of Provins and 15 km east of Montereau- Fault-Yonne.

History

The fifth daughter convent of the monastery of Citeaux was founded in 1118 by Stephan Harding on a site which had provided the Count of Champagne, Thibaut. First abbot was Arthaud. The soon wealthy monastery founded the daughter monasteries monastery Vauluisant, Barbeau monastery and convent of La Colombe. In the 14th and 15th centuries it was ravaged and plundered. In 1536 it fell into coming. The monastery was plundered in 1567 and 1652 again. The buildings were restored in the early 18th century. After the dissolution of the monastery in the French Revolution began with the crash that ended only after a further sale in 1829 Dr. Husson. The buildings are protected as a monument historique since 1927.

Buildings and plant

The church from the second third of the 12th century are preserved with a two yokes deep, flat closed choir with a dialed rose window, the transept with a rose window on the southern front, and the chapter house in ruins. Preserved are the passage from the cloister into the church, Armarium, sacristy, a part of the walls of the chapter house, and the two round towers flanking the entrance portal of the monastery and part of Abtshauses. In Provins is still the townhouse from the 13th century.
