Prime Minister of Slovenia

The Slovenian Prime Minister (Slovenian Vlade Republike Slovenije Predsednik ) stands in front of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia. Since the first free elections in 1990 and Slovenia's independence from Yugoslavia in 1991 there were seven leaders (see list). The Prime Minister is appointed by the National Assembly ( Državni zbor ) on a proposal by the President and must enjoy their continued duration of confidence. Current incumbent is Alenka Bratušek.

List of Slovenian Prime Minister

1) Lojze Peterle was elected in 1990 to the Prime Minister of the Yugoslav Republic of Slovenia. After the Declaration of Independence he remained until the first election of the new Republic of Slovenia in office.
