Princess Henriëtte Amalia of Anhalt-Dessau

Henriette Amalie of Anhalt- Dessau ( * August 26 1666 in Kleve, † April 18, 1726 in Diez ) was a princess of Anhalt- Dessau from the house of Ascanians and by marriage Princess of Nassau -Diez. From 1696 to 1707, she served as regent for her son governor of Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe.

Life

Henriette Amalie was a daughter of Prince Johann Georg II of Anhalt- Dessau (1627-1693) from his marriage to Catherine Henriette (1637-1708), daughter of Prince Frederick Henry of Orange, the Stadtholder of the United Netherlands.

They married on November 26, 1683 in Dessau her cousin Prince Henry Casimir II of Nassau- Dietz ( 1657-1696 ). After the death of her husband she became the regent for her underage, eldest son governor of Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe. Henriette Amalia inherited from the estate of her mother's major Dutch paintings. In 1710 the governor donated the " Le Très Noble Ordre de la Fidélité ".

At the birth of her second daughter Henriette Amalie employed the help of Justine wins Mundin. Henriette Amalie died at Castle Oranienstein whose shape she coined much and in the years 1704 was designed by the architect Daniel Marot baroque to 1709.
