Prospect Hummer

Prospect Hummer is an EP of American experimental band Animal Collective from Baltimore. It is considered as an accompaniment to the studio album Sung Tongs by 2004.

Genesis

During a European tour in mid-2004, the group in Edinburgh was taken by Kieran Hebden attention to the British folk singer Vashti Bunyan. Bunyan was eventually persuaded to take up vocals for all the songs ( with the exception of " Baleen Sample" ). Avey Tare, Panda Bear and Deakin are represented on the entire EP; Geologist, who was unable to participate in the Tour due to his working hours, is also just on the song " Baleen Sample" represented. It took them three days to record three songs.

The first two songs are actually outtakes from recording sessions for Sung Tongs, but they were re-recorded with Bunyan.

Bunyan said of the recordings:

"My daughter says she could hear me smile on the title track [ ... ] and I did. I loved to have the freedom to sing, as I wanted. I was still trying to find my voice after I had buried for years. "

The release of the EP on Fat Cat Records in 2005 led to Vashti Bunyan signed a contract with Fat Cat. She wrote, and then published there also took her second album, Lookaftering. So you ended a thirty-year hiatus.
