Protase Rugambwa

Protase Rugambwa ( born May 31, 1960 in Bunena, Tanzania ) is a Curia, Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Protase Rugambwa attended the seminars in Katoke and Itaga. On Kibosho Senior Seminary Rugambwa studied philosophy at St. Charles Lwanga and Segerea Senior Seminary. Catholic theology. He received on 2 September 1990 in Dar es Salaam by Pope John Paul II the sacrament of ordination to the priesthood for the Diocese of Rulenge.

From 1990 until 1991 Protase Rugambwa parochial vicar was in Mabira. Rugambwa taught from 1991 to 1994 at the Seminar in Katoke. In addition, he was commissioner of the diocese Rulenge for liturgy and chaplain of the hospital in Biharamulo. 1994 Protase Rugambwa was sent to Rome for further studies. In 1998 he received his doctorate at the Pontifical Lateran University in specialized pastoral theology. On June 26, 2012, he was named Benedict XVI. Associate Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and President of the Pontifical Mission Societies. He also granted him the personal title of archbishop. On September 21, 2013, was confirmed by Pope Francis permanently in the Office of the Deputy Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
