Prudent Joye

Prudent Joye (born 15 December 1913 in Roubaix; † 1 November 1980) was a French athlete. At a height of 1.80 m his competition weight was 78 kg.

At the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936 Joye difference in 54.1 s from already in the run over 400 meters hurdles. With the French 4 x 400 - meter relay Joye narrowly missed the final.

Two years later at the European Championships in Paris in 1938, he won the 400 - meter hurdles in 53.1 seconds before Hungary József Kovács in 53.3 s as a finisher of the French season, he took over the baton in third place behind the cage rotors from Germany and from the United Kingdom. However, the Swedish -cage rotor Bertil of Wachenfeldt took Joye from 1.7 seconds and secured the Sweden the bronze medal ahead of France.

Prudent Joye was in the years 1936, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1941 and 1943 French champion in the 400 - meter hurdles. He started for the RC Roubaix 1932-1934, CA Français Paris from 1935 to 1941 and for FC Sochaux in the years 1942 and 1943, before he ended his career in 1945 in Roubaix.
