Puno (Region)
The region Puno (Spanish Región Puno Quechua Punu suyu ) is a region in southern Peru. Covering an area of 66,988 km ² 1,143,354 inhabitants. The capital is Puno.
Population
More than three quarters of the population are indigenous and speak roughly equal parts Quechua (variant Qusqu - Qullaw ) and Aymara.
Geography
The region is bordered to the east by Bolivia.
Within Puno is Peru's share of Lake Titicaca.
