Purda, Poland

Purda ( German United Purden ) is a village and seat of the municipality in Poland. It is 14 kilometers south-east of Olsztyn in the Warmia - Mazury. On a municipal area of 318 km ² live 7,389 inhabitants.

Landscape

A characteristic feature of the landscape in this region are numerous lakes, marshes, ponds, and coniferous and mixed forests, which cover 53 % of its territory.

History

On January 21, 1384 Bishop of Warmia Henry III granted. Sorbom the Tangible after the agrarian constitution of the German Order state the locator Johann von Rozergenaw for a departmental traffic of 70 hooves with interest-free ten years and seven Freienhufen for the Vogt. The location was renewed on November 20, 1417 and on August 19, 1503 ( with five Freienhufen for the Church ).

After the Second Peace of Thorn in 1466 Warmia was ranked as autonomous Prince-Bishopric of Warmia the crown of Poland.

The origin of the village can be traced to the 15th century. Inhabitants were mainly settlers from Nordmasowien. In 1785 there were in the village 84 fireplaces. In 1817 there were 351 and in 1907 908 inhabitants. May 7, 1874, the District No. 22 with the villages Alt Mertinsdorf, United Purden, Small Purden, Pathaunen and the Gutsbezirk Pathaunen was formed in Great Purden. Between 1918 and 1939 there were in Purda a Polish and a German school. After the Second World War came settlers from Masovia, Vilnius and Ukraine who were there like the Zwangsaussiedelung victim.

Attractions

In the center of the village there is a church from the 16th century. Bishop Marcin Kromer (1512-1589) had it built.
