Putrajaya

Putrajaya ( Jawi: ڤوتراجاي ) is a planned city, founded in 1995 in Malaysia. It serves as the administrative center of Federation.

Putrajaya is located south of the capital Kuala Lumpur in the Malay peninsula and belongs to the Special Economic Zone Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC). In addition to Kuala Lumpur and Labuan Putrajaya is one of the federal territories of Malaysia. In the 90s, the Malaysian federal government acquired the area Prang Besar of Selangor State, to build the new city there. The place got its name from the first Malaysian Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra. The jaya in the name means " success " or " perfection".

The urban landscape of Putrajaya is determined by artificial lakes and vast green areas and prime examples of Islamic- Malay architecture.

Not far from Putrajaya is Cyberjaya, a cyber city, also in the Multimedia Super Corridor.

Transport

Originally included the planning of the city one of the Kuala Lumpur Monorail resembling monorail. Due to the planned far reaching population figures, the project was shelved. Only the monorail station has already begun at the city railway station is evidence of this project.

Putrajaya is connected to a station on the KLIA Transit connecting Kuala Lumpur since 2002, with the international airport Kuala Lumpur International Airport ( KLIA ) in Sepang.

  • Putra Mosque - The mosque holds 15,000 worshipers. At 116 meters, the minaret is the second highest in Southeast Asia. The construction of the mosque began in 1997 and ended two years later.
  • Perdana Putra - In this large complex of the Prime Minister 's office is. Was built the building in the years 1997 to 1999.
  • Seri Perdana - This is the residence of the Prime Minister.

Regular events

Every year here in October of the Ironman 70.3 Putrajaya is discharged - a triathlon over half the Ironman distance. The disciplines of 1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running need to be addressed.
