Rabbi Bana'ah

R. Banna'a (also: Bannaja or Benaiah ) was a Jewish scholar of the ancient world from Palestine. He is counted among the Tannaim of the fifth generation, which form the transition to the Amoraim, and participated in the third century AD.

From it halakhic as well haggadic sayings have been preserved.

Inner contradictions of individual sections of the Pentateuch, he tried to explain the fact that the Torah had been revealed in independent roles ( Babyl. Gittin 60a ).

His Haupttradent and also the most important student was Yohanan bar Nappaha.
