W1Vorlage: Infobox Island / Maintenance / height missing

Rabbit Iceland ( German " Rabbit Island" ) is located in the southern part of the Tasman Bay on the north side of the South Island of New Zealand. The long, narrow island stretches over a length of 8 km in the east-west direction and 15 km ². It lies opposite the mouth of the Waimea River, seven kilometers west of Richmond.

The island is a resort for the inhabitants of Motueka, Mapua, Wakefield, Brightwater, Richmond, Nelson and Stoke. A bridge spans the tidal area between the island and mainland. After the bridge, there is a larger grassy area, then start the beaches. The island consists largely of large sand dunes, overgrown with pines, whose roots are exposed by the migration of the dunes.

Note

In New Zealand, several islands are so called, of which, however, only has a greater significance. The other Rabbit Islands are less than 1 km ²:
