Radiodifusión Argentina al Exterior

Radiodifusión Argentina al Exterior ( RAE; German: Argentine broadcasting for foreign countries ) is the external public radio stations in Argentina.

History

RAE was on 11 April 1949 as Servicio Internacional de la República Argentina ( SIRA ) ( German International Service of the Republic of Argentina) on the air. The SIRA, which was founded on the initiative of former President Juan Perón, sent a 24 - hour program in different languages. After the fall of Perón in a military coup in 1955, the station was closed and took three years later, on 12 February 1958 under its present name the transmission mode back on.

Today's transmission mode

RAE is operated by the state-owned broadcasting company Radio Nacional (RNA). Currently, programs are broadcast in Spanish, German, French, English, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese. RAE can be received via internet and shortwave. In his Spanish-language program it accepts partial shipments of domestic services to its parent company RNA. The transmitter is located in the town of General Pacheco in the province of Buenos Aires and can theoretically be operated with up to 100 kilowatts, but is used because of age only with reduced transmission power. A modernization should take place after as of May 2012, but could not be implemented due to financial reasons.
