Radosław Wojtaszek

Radosław Wojtaszek ( born January 13, 1987 in Elbląg ) is a Polish top player in chess.

Wojtaszek already learned as a 4 -year-old chess and came with 5 years in a chess club. Since then, he has been promoted and trained by the Polish Chess Federation. First he had great success in youth chess: he was both 2004 Youth European Champion and Junior World Champion in the category U18. In the same year he was fourth at the World Youth Championships U20 in India.

At the end of 2004 he was at a major chess tournament in Warsaw third parties, where he defeated the Englishman Nigel Short in the first round. In 2005 he was sensational in his first appearance at the national championship Polish champion and earned the title of Grandmaster.

2006 Wojtaszek first played at the Chess Olympiad in Turin for the Polish national team, reaching 9 out of 11 ( 81.9 %), the best result of the Polish team. In 2008, 2010 and 2012 he was part of the Polish selection, taking the second best result achieved in 2012 on top board. He also fought at the European Team Championships in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011 for Poland. In the World Chess Championships 2008 and 2010 he was part of the secondary Dante team of Viswanathan Anand. In 2008 he won the rapid chess championship in Warsaw. In 2010, he won the tournament Magistral Internacional de San Juan with 6.5 points from 10 games after scoring against Laurent Fressinet. In June 2011, he won the György Marx Memorial in Paks with 8 points over 10 games and an Elo performance of 2882nd In January 2014 he won with 6.5 points from 7 games, the Basel Open.

In the chess Bundesliga since 2005, he plays for the Hamburger SK. In Poland Wojtaszek played until 2005 for PTSz Płock, 2008-2009 for AZS UMCS Lublin and since 2010 for SzK Polonia Wrocław vote. In the British Four Nations Chess League he played in the 2005/06 season for the Sharks Slough, France plays Wojtaszek since 2005 for Mulhouse Philidor.
