Laurent Fressinet

Laurent Fressinet ( born November 1, 1981 in Dax ) is a leading French chess grandmaster.

Life

As an 8 -year-old learned Fressinet the rules of chess. In 1995 he was third in the European Championship in Verdun and in São Lourenço (Brazil ) Vice World Champion in the U14 category, also 1999 Vice World Champion in the U18 category. In 2001, he won a major chess tournament in Paris by a 3.5-2.5 - final win over former World Champion Boris Spassky. In 2003 he was runner-up in Belfort, 2004, he won in Andorra. In 2010 he won the first time the French national championship after each runner-up in 2004 and 2006.

Fressinet is married to the Grand Master Almira Scripcenco, with whom he has a daughter since January 2007.

Since 2000 Fressinet for France took part in six Chess Olympiads (2000, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012 ) in part. From 1999 to 2011 he took part in seven European Team Championships, but he reached in 2001 in León, both with the team and in the individual competition of the reserve players in second place in 2005 in Gothenburg, both with the team and in the individual standings at fourth board in third place.
