Rapla County

The circle Rapla ( German: Rappel ) (Estonian Rapla maakond or Raplamaa ) is a county ( maakond ) in Estonia.

It is located in the western inland and on the east by the county Järva, Pärnu County to the south, on the west by Läänemaa, and Harju County to the north. It was formed in 1990 from the Rajon Rapla and parts of neighboring Rajone formed in 1950 under Soviet rule.

The western part of the district is mostly flat and dominated by agriculture, the eastern forested hilly and densely.

The county has a partnership with the district of Kaiserslautern, Rhineland -Palatinate.
