Rashidi Kawawa

Rashidi Mfaume Kawawa ( born May 27, 1926 in Matepwende, Songea District, Tanganyika ( now Tanzania), † 31 December 2009 Muhimbili ) was the first Prime Minister of Tanzania.

Kawawa belonged to the party Tanganyika African National Union and was dated 22 January 1962 to December 9, 1962 Prime Minister of Tanganyika. He was the successor of Julius Nyerere Kambarage, the Tanganyika had led to independence and then became president down. Subsequently, he was Vice President from 1962 to 1964.

17 February 1972 to 13 February 1977, he was the first Prime Minister of Tanzania. Until 1980 he was Minister of Defense of the country.
