Ratková

Ratková (Hungarian Ratko ) is a municipality south of Revúca in central Slovakia.

The municipality is located in the southeastern foothills of the Slovak Ore Mountains ( in part Mountains Revúcka Highlands ) in the valley of the river Turcianska and comprises the main town Ratková and the eastern and 1963 eingemeindeten place Repištia ( German Ripsdorf ).

It was first mentioned in writing in 1413 as Rathko and evolved over the centuries into a significant market and craft community. In the second half of the 19th century it was even the seat of a county government, but lost this status with the establishment of Czechoslovakia 1919.

The famous past is today reflected in the plant 's main square, the former evangelical school from 1818, the old town hall, the late-Gothic Protestant church from the 16th century and the bell tower from the 18th century.
