Rebais

Rebais is a commune with 2146 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Seine- et- Marne in the Île- de -France region. It is located east of Paris, part of the Arrondissement Provins and is the administrative center of the canton Rebais. Its inhabitants are called Resbaciens.

History

Rebais was a double monastery, which was founded in 635 by Saint Ouen. Destroyed by the Normans, it was rebuilt in the 9th century as a Benedictine abbey, where worked among other things, later canonized by Walter Rebais.
