Red Harvest (Band)

Red Harvest was an industrial metal band from Oslo, Norway.

History

Jimmy Ivan Bergstein (guitar, vocals ), Thomas Brandt ( bass) and drummer Cato Bekkevold already played together in the Heavy metal band Arctic Thunder. With the entry of Jan Nygaard, the band members found 1989 Red Harvest.

Already in December, the first demo Occultia was completed, followed by Psychotica 1990. Their debut album was released in 1992 Nomindsland on Black Mark Production. At this time the band played traditional thrash metal. The subsequent tour brought them together with Cadaver to England. In addition, the band played several concerts Cradle of Filth as the opening act.

1994 appeared on Voices of Wonder Album There's Beauty in the Purity of Sadness. The accompanying music video was banned Wounds on Norwegian television, but MTV USA radiated from the clip. Nygaard got out in the same year, he was replaced by Ketil Eggum. In addition, keyboardist Lars Sorensen got inside. With the EP The Maztür nation in 1995, the band began to take on more electronic elements into the music.

1996 Hybreed was published. Cato Bekkevold rose after the end of a tour opening for Type O Negative from to play later for a short time with Enslaved and Ashes to Ashes. Erik Wroldsen of Trivial Act helped out as a replacement. Appeared in 1998 another EP, then the band moved to Nocturnal Art Productions. There, was released in 1999 the album Cold Dark Matter with Fenriz of Darkthrone as a guest musician. From this album, the solid industrial metal style that follows the band to this day was born. A tour as opening act for Mayhem and Aeternus leading the band to Germany.

Cold Dark Matter was the first album which was also released in America, where it is distributed by Relapse Records. On the occasion of the new distribution agreement, the EP New Rage World Music will be released in 1998 with bonus tracks as an album. The 2002s - Sick Transit Gloria Mundi work brought Red Harvest a nomination for the Spellemannprisen (the Norwegian equivalent of the Grammy Award) one, but ultimately Dimmu Borgir could prevail. In 2003, a split single with cyclone. Antipax Mundial Total appeared in 2003 as an Internet -only release.

Was published in 2004 Internal Punishment Programs. The U.S. sales took Candlelight Records. 2005 was signed with Season of Mist, a new contract. A cover version of the Ramones song Somebody Put Something in My Drink appeared on a Scandinavian tribute album. A Greater Darkness, which so far last studio album, appeared in 2007.

In May 2010, the band from unspecified reasons disbanded.

Projects

The band members of Red Harvest participated in several other bands. So Sorensen also plays Mezzerschmitt together with Jan Axel " Hellhammer " Blomberg (Mayhem ) and Rune " Blasphemer " Eriksen ( ex- Mayhem, Ava Inferi ). Together with Eggum and Bergsten he also operates the Dark Side project: safety. Thomas Brandt played in the band Walkevören thrash metal and for some appearances at Khold.
