Régine Cavagnoud

Régine Cavagnoud (* June 27, 1970 in Thones, † 31 October 2001 in Innsbruck) was a French alpine skier. She grew up in the ski resort of La Clusaz, her father was employed there in the winter when the ski lift operations.

Cavagnoud won eight World Cup races and was seven times French Champion. Her achievements in 2001 were winning the world championship in Super -G and winning the super-G World Cup in the same year.

On 29 October 2001 she joined the common descent training of German and French ski racers on the Pitztal Glacier in Austria with this seriously injured young German coach Markus Anwander together. According to the police report Régine Cavagnoud Anwander and collided head-on with the heads and plunged about 100 feet above a steep slope from. Régine Cavagnoud died two days later in hospital.
