Regions of Ivory Coast

The Ivory Coast is divided into regions, which in turn are divided into departments. The blank has changed significantly in a number of administrative reforms.

Administrative divisions since 2011

Currently, there are 30 regions.

Administrative divisions 2000-2011

Côte d'Ivoire has reorganized its 58 departments on the French model in 19 regions on 12 July 2000. These are (in brackets the capital):

As part of the decentralization new departments, sub-prefectures and municipalities are created again and again, as in 2005 there were 80 sous- prefectures and 520 municipalities on October 6. The relevant decree gives a complete list at that booth

Administrative divisions prior to 2000

Prior to 2000, there was the administrative level of the region and not the Ivory Coast was divided into the top level in departments which are named after its chief town.
