Reinhard Seehafer ( born September 6, 1958 in Magdeburg ) is a German conductor, composer and pianist

Life

At the age of five years, Reinhard Seehafer received his first piano lessons. In addition, he wrote short piano works, chamber music and songs. As a young musician, he was a prizewinner at the Beethoven Piano Competition in Magdeburg and the Improvisation Competition in Weimar. 1975 saw the Leipzig music director Rolf Reuter, the talent of the young pianist and composer, and taught him in his conducting class at the University of Music and Theatre " Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy " Leipzig alongside Georg Christoph Biller and Claus Peter Flor.

From 1976 to 1982 Reinhard Seehafer studied with Rolf Reuter and Kurt Masur. Later studies followed with Otmar Suitner and Leonard Bernstein. In 1982, he aroused with Giacomo Puccini's Madame Butterfly at the Komische Oper Berlin quite a stir and was immediately committed to the house. He has worked with directors and choreographers Harry Kupfer, Joachim Herz and Tom Schilling. He was appointed chief conductor and artistic director of musical theater of the city of Görlitz 1989.

In 1991, Reinhard Seehafer together with the director of the musical theater Görlitz Wolf -Dieter Ludwig ( 1928-2007 ), the transnational cultural project EUROPERA whose musical director and principal conductor, he was until 1998. In the same year he founded the Europa Philharmonie, whose chief conductor he is. In his work as a composer is dedicated to Reinhard Seehafer different genres and styles. In addition to chamber music and opera especially large symphonic works occupy a central position in his work as a composer. So he composed, for example, as a commissioned work for the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra ( USA) " Land of Enchantment " for large orchestra and for the South Africa tour of the State Youth Orchestra of Saxony, whose music director he from 1994 to 2000, was the work " BachTrium ".
